Montauk Real Estate

Montauk real estate is part of the booming land and housing market on the East End of Long Island, New York. Montauk is affectionately known as "The End" as it is the easternmost tip on the South Fork of Long Island. It is a haven for fishing, surfing, camping, and nightlife.

Montauk Point has been a vacation destination for over 100 years, with the summer season being the peak for rentals. Private residences are also extremely popular, ranging from small homes to majestic oceanfront estates.

Montauk has several different areas to choose from as far as location. Most popular is the south-facing Atlantic oceanfront, with white sand beaches and spectacular cliffs reminiscent of California or New England. These estates are the most expensive. The northen side of Montauk faces Block Island Sound and has several lakes and bays, including Lake Montauk and Fort Pond Bay.

The town of Montauk has a slightly different feel from its ritzy Hamptons neighbors to the west. A year-round industrial fishing town, it has more of a lived-in, down to earth mentality. You won't find ritzy Gucci stores or uber-elite restaurants but rather homey pancake houses, small clam bars, souveneir shops, and artsy boutiques.
